Having inspired great writers, the charm of our mountains is still at work, inspiring artists and today giving rise to a number of cultural festivals: the Festival of Gavarnie, Latino Roc in Cauterets, Jazz in Luz, the Sacred Music Festival in Lourdes, and more.

The environment of the Vallées des Gaves, majestic and harsh in equal measure, also helps to forge sporting legends. While the visit of the Tour de France remains an unmissable event, you can also take part in or view many other sporting occasions. Skiing, snowboarding, MTB, running: there’s something for everyone!

There is also a more intimate dimension to the festivities. Within each village the idea of sharing symbolises a feeling of belonging to a single region: the Pyrenees Dogs Festival, the “Eolo Tempo” International Kites Festival, "Cuba Hoy”, "Les Arts en fêtes”, and many more.

Wherever you are in Vallées des Gaves, there is happiness in the air every day! For every village, the festive spirit constitutes as much a tradition as a duty! The organising committees prepare for months for the events and gatherings to which you are cordially invited. Fêtes de village (Village festivals), Foires aux Côtelettes (traditional autumn fairs) and the transhumances music festival are an ode to pastoral farming, good food, dance, singing, rugby… in short, to everything which is part of the soul of this region.
